I’m Lindsay Attaway, a (mostly)
self-taught artist in Shreveport, LA.
I’m a librarian married to Palmer, and I have two most excellent dogs, three cats, two fish, and three snails. My only classroom art experience is a basic drawing class I took on a whim when I was in grad school. I enjoyed it but had no idea that I’d use the skills again.
I discovered that I love painting just a few years ago at a library art program I attended with my mom. My first painting was an 8 x 10 canvas panel with a simple forest scene drawn on, which I covered with cheap craft paint from Walmart. It’s still framed in my studio.
I enjoyed that experience so much that I bought some cheap acrylics and started painting. I began with YouTube videos, mostly by The Art Sherpa. I stumbled onto a watercolor tutorial I liked and then switched to that medium for a while. Then came gouache, acrylic gouache, and, eventually, oil. Now, I stick primarily to oil and acrylic gouache, but I use other mediums occasionally.
